Our athletics and physical education program at Shorashim Hebrew Academy supports the healthy development of the whole child—body, mind, and soul. We believe that physical education is not only essential for health but also for building character, confidence, and teamwork.
Through structured PE classes and organized sports, students develop fundamental movement skills, coordination, and fitness. From cardiovascular health and flexibility to strength training and agility, our program is designed to help students stay active and feel energized. We offer a variety of age-appropriate activities and sports that keep students engaged and motivated.

Beyond physical skills, our athletics program teaches essential life values such as responsibility, discipline, and sportsmanship. Students learn to work together, communicate effectively, and show respect to their peers and coaches. These values naturally carry over into the classroom, supporting academic success and emotional regulation.
Participation in physical activities has also been shown to improve cognitive function. Our PE program is intentionally scheduled to help boost concentration, memory retention, and problem-solving skills. This balance between movement and learning helps students perform better academically and improves their overall well-being.
We are committed to creating an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere in our athletics program. Whether a child is a natural athlete or trying a sport for the first time, they will find a space where they feel supported, challenged, and proud of their growth. Physical education at Shorashim is about much more than exercise—it’s about building strong, healthy, and confident individuals.
